PUNCHING TIME

Forget the days when you had to race to the time clock to punch in so that you don’t be marked late for work.

It was a sure way that an employer could easily see what time you arrived to work without having to indiscreetly stand by the door or the elevator to know if you were running five to ten minutes late for work.

Hourly workers could always be somewhat envious of the salaried employees because they were not required to punch in and out since their wages were not going to be docked if they were late. But the downside to that was they wouldn’t get paid overtime— no matter how many hours they worked. There were pros and cons to both sides.

However, employers are now getting away from the old fashioned time clock and have advanced to a more efficient way of record keeping for employees, projects, and other time-related tasks. Modern technology has really catapulted us into a much more faster and user-friendly way of doing a lot of day-to-day tasks. One of the most proficient methods of keeping track of daily tasks is using a platform called timesheet time tracker.

To coin the phrase “Work smarter, not harder” can be applied in the many ways we do things today.

Which basically means, when you are introduced to a better way of doing things, then become smart enough to change the way you are currently performing a certain task.

However, it is an essential part of the business to be able to have the correct tools to monitor employee’s arrival at work and the projects that they are working on in order to have better task management.

Also, if an employee is empowered to track his or her time, they are more apt to catch where they are maybe spending too much time visiting other co-workers, lingering too long at the water fountain telling jokes, or spending an inordinate amount of time working on tasks that are not relevant to that day’s work in order to appear busy.

This author has managed large groups of people and there is one profound statement that can always be quoted by anyone–and that is —“People do what you inspect, not what you expect!”

This will also permit your business or organization to be more productive and allow you to be able to accurately bill clients for projects so your company can maintain a high standard of integrity.

One big advantage of this type of software is that there is no learning curve. The method is easy and straightforward. With that said, employees will not have to spend time trying to learn the software before they are actually able to use it efficiently. Over time, it is highly likely that they may come to appreciate it once they see how much time it saves them by not having to manually add up work/project hours.

As an employer, you also have to think about the health of your business. And in order to keep your clients happy it is imperative that good and honest relationships are formed and maintained. You never want to have a client suspect that your organization is not being billed honestly with any project they may have outsourced to your company. Timesheets and other tracker apparatuses’ are a good way to maintain your integrity.
